The course focuses on the interrelationships between the State, through its mechanisms and their agencies that produce and implement policies, and the people (either individually or as a group) who are the recipients of these policies, who are subjected to them, who make use of them or who face them. Running through the 19th and 20th centuries, it converses with individual themes of Greek historiography. Through various case studies, and at a distance from the institutional history of the State, it attempts to highlight the multiple relations of interaction between the State and the subjects, and their multiple changes over time.
Learning outcomes: The main aim of the course is the students to develop a critical attitude towards the official institutional-political historiography of Greece. At the same time, to enrich their historical knowledge through the investigation of case studies and key constitutive moments.
General Competences : Through the conversation with the various specific themes of historiography that will be studied during the courses, the students will be able to acquire the ability to understand the interaction between the subjects’ perceptions of the State and, respectively, the perceptions of the latter concerning the subjects.
