Prerequisites for applying to conduct a PhD:

• Candidates must be holders of a Master’s Degree in Social Anthropology, History or a related subject from a Greek or equivalent foreign university.
• Candidates must undergo an oral interview.
• Candidates must certify sufficient knowledge of at least one foreign language by submitting relevant academic qualifications. Foreign candidates must have sufficient knowledge of the Greek language.

The application is submitted with a relevant application at any time during the academic year to the Secretariat of the Graduate Programs of the Department of Social Anthropology and History. The application must be accompanied by:

• detailed CV
• officially certified copies of academic qualifications (in case the qualification has been obtained abroad, it must be accompanied by an equivalence certificate from DIKATSA, now DOATAP)
• foreign language diplomas
  • draft doctoral thesis proposal
• two letters of recommendation
• certificate of Greek proficiency from the Greek Language Center for foreign candidates.
