Research

The academic staff of the Department of Social Anthropology and History is distinguished for its interdisciplinary research work, carried out in the form of independent research and in the context of funded programs.

In the Department of Social Anthropology and History, research is supported by the operation of 4 research laboratories: the Ethnography Lab, the History Lab, the Family and Kinship Studies Lab and the Lab of Ethnographic Approaches to the Study of Language. The research laboratories act as hubs aiming at supporting education and research at the doctoral and postdoctoral level in a variety of ways (access to archival material, creation of databases, operation of a specialized library, collaborations with research centers and academic institutions, organization of workshops and seminars, etc.). Members of the laboratories are the academic staff of the Department, post-doctoral researchers, researchers that have completed their PhDs and PhD candidates of the relevant department or other academic institutions, with a research subject related to the subjects in which each research laboratory is active.
